How we calculate

Residential RCC-framed houses typically use 3.5–4.5 kg of steel per sq ft of built-up area; load-bearing houses with only an RCC slab use 2–2.6 kg.
Bar sizes are a typical split (8 mm stirrups and slabs, 10–12 mm slabs and beams, 16–20 mm columns and footings). The structural drawing's bar schedule is the final word.
