Check if your AC or appliance repair is overpriced
AC service, gas refills and installation, and fridge, washing machine, RO and geyser repairs come with visit charges, gas and parts that are easy to inflate. GenuineRate checks each charge against researched service rates for your city.
Every line is compared with brand price lists and researched rates for your city. You get what's overpriced, what's missing, questions to ask, and a polite message to send.
Common overcharges
A full gas refill when the AC needed a repair
A sealed AC shouldn't lose gas. If you're told it needs gas, ask for the pressure readings and where the leak is — refilling without fixing a leak means paying again soon.
Extra copper pipe charged generously
Standard installation includes a few metres of pipe. Ask how many extra metres were used and the rate per metre.
Parts replaced without being shown
Ask to see the old part (capacitor, PCB, fan motor), and get the new part's brand and warranty on the bill.
Visit charge on top of the repair
Many services adjust the visit or inspection fee against the repair. Check it isn't charged twice.
An AMC you don't need
An annual maintenance contract can be good value — compare it with the cost of the visits it actually covers.
A split AC foam or power-jet service typically costs ₹450–₹900 per AC. A gas refill for a 1.5 ton split (R32) with a leak check is ₹2,500–₹3,500 per AC, and installation ₹1,000–₹1,800 per AC.
Does every AC service need a gas refill?
No. A properly sealed AC shouldn't lose gas. If a technician says it needs gas, ask for the pressure readings and where the leak is, and get the leak fixed first.
What does RO servicing cost?
An RO service visit typically costs ₹400–₹800 per visit, a filter kit ₹1,200–₹2,500 per kit and a new membrane ₹1,500–₹3,500 per membrane. Membranes usually last two to three years.
